About Us

I (Emma) had an extensive career with the UK’s largest dog welfare charity which spanned 13 years and only ended as I went travelling and settled in a new town. Myself and my partner Louise, who has long history of fostering and owning dogs, cats and horses, worked together at this charity and bonded over our passion for pets.

During our time working for this charity we were responsible for walking, cleaning, feeding, medicating, training and basic grooming of the dogs in our care on a daily basis. Being aware of the dogs normal behaviours meant we were able to pick up very quickly on anything that seemed unusual and reported these to a vet and the management team.

We were able to tailor the exercise sessions to the specific dogs needs, we also enjoyed giving them enrichment such as brain games to ensure they were mentally stimulated too. A lot of our time walking the dogs was spent on training them to walk nicely on a lead and teaching them basic skills ready for adoption to their new homes.

I am also very well versed in animal handling and veterinary handling for routine procedures.

Spending 5 years as assistant manager of the rescue centre enabled me to learn more about the animal welfare industry which I am passionate about and a broader oversite on managing a large number of dogs, veterinary guidance and an invaluable learning experience.

In addition to working with dogs in UK rescue, Louise and I have also volunteered with dogs such as spending 3 months (living on site) at a rescue centre in Spain caring for sick, injured and abandoned dogs. This experience allowed us to learn about breeds we had not met before including Galgos, Mastines, Podencos and Mallorcan Shepherds. It was equally challenging and rewarding to assist these dogs and learn about another countries animal welfare system. We are keen to continue supporting this charity and you will see this throughout our facebook pages.

Whilst we were travelling during our year out, Louise and I also offered pet sitting services along the way, such as Bertie the beautiful border terrier in Wales, Tabby and Ginge – two adorable cats, and Dexter the Frenchie.

Growing up I was never happier than when surrounded by animals and they give me a tremendous amount of pleasure to work alongside. My passion for animal welfare is one of my defining qualities and I am always ready to spring into action to help any animal that needs it. I have spent many a night awake feeding new born puppies, checking on injured birds, and settling worried or anxious rescue dogs.

Louise has an amazing knowledge of animals, such as dogs cats and horses. When living in Canada she began fostering dogs for a charity including a Shih Tzu with guarding tendencies, a giant mixed breed with separation anxiety and raised a litter of working Husky pups and puppy farm puppies that had been seized. A lot of hours were put into winning these dogs over as they had never been given the training and socialisation they deserved. There may also have been some rescue missions to get dogs to a safe place that were in danger due to their breed types! Alongside this, Louise also took part in fundraising and other charity work.

We are both outdoors people that love to be in the fresh air. We will ensure your pet has a fun and enjoyable walk. Their wellbeing and comfort is always our highest priority and we will take any action required to ensure their welfare is maintained in our care. This may mean shorter walks due to extreme temperatures or weather however they will then get indoor play time and socialisation.

We have had a wide range of pets during our lives including dogs, cats, horses, rabbits, rats, Guinea pigs, hamsters, fish, bearded dragons, corn snakes and a Python so no matter the pet, please get in touch and we will be happy to discuss with you.

We also have a couple of volunteers that work alongside us, both very skilled and passionate animal lovers with their own dogs. Both are dog first aid trained including CPR.

We love our custom build van too, with secure crates for your pets to travel in style. 5 crates at the back and a large crate in the middle for the ‘house horses’ that need more space. We carry water, food, bowls, full first aid kit, cooling mats in summer and more towels that you can count on wet days! We have everything we need to provide the very best care for your furry family!

In case of the rear doors being compromised, all cages are also accessible from the middle section of the van, ensuring a quick release in case of emergency. The van has air conditioning and extra fans fitted alongside thermometers to ensure temperatures are safe.
